In addition to the Festival in August, the committee sponsors other programs during the year. In late Spring the committee conducts a Late Bloomer Grant program to encourage individuals over 50 to develop their artistic talents. In July, the Festival committee provides the Chetco Community Library with an exhibit for the month during which works of the artists who will participate in the August Festival are displayed in the main room and the display case in the lobby. That month the committee participates in the Brookings Art Walk on the 2nd Saturday and hosts the program at the library during the Art Walk. During this program artists are on hand to demonstrate their work, entertainment is provided, and refreshments are served.
Festival committee members are assisted by many other volunteers who help with specific tasks and projects the week before and during the Festival. To work on a Festival project an individual must primarily be enthusiastic, energetic, and have a positive attitude. The possession of any special talent beneficial to the Festival would also be welcome. If you are interested in helping with a Festival please contact chairperson Jo Mochulski.
